God Listens

As for me, I will call upon God, And the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:16-37 NKJV

Have you ever considered the amazing biblical promise that God—the Creator of our world and the universe—actually listens to you? What a privilege it is that the Lord actively listens to His people when they come to Him!

Today’s scripture reading, as well as other passages, assures us that God listens to His people. Here are some examples:

• “The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29)
• “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12).
• “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15).

Our God is the personification of love. He listens to the prayers of His people, simply because loving means listening. When you start believing He doesn’t want to hear from you, ask yourself if you’re where you need to be in your relationship with Him so that He will hear you. After all, He’s still right where He’s always been.
