Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
What are you going to be when you grow up?
It’s a common question for small children. But when those children grow up and get ready to leave home, the question takes on new significance. High school graduates might be tempted to look for heavenly signs to point them in the right directions. The question may even become, “What is God’s will for my life?”
Unfortunately, the Bible doesn’t specifically say which job you should have, or what your spouse’s name is, or any of those other big life decisions. But it may be comforting to know that God does have a perfect plan that your indecisiveness cannot thwart. And though it may leave out the specifics of your circumstances, the Bible does tell you what God’s will is.
Be thankful.
If you belong to Christ, then no matter what you become when you grow up, you need to give thanks to God for what you are: His child. Whether you are rich or poor, married or single, a plumber or a rocket scientist, or a writer or a computer programmer, you are called to be thankful.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to be Your child. When I worry about the specific details of my life, remind me to be thankful in every circumstance.
