But you, dress yourself for work; arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them. Jeremiah 1:17 ESV
When God called the prophet Jeremiah into His service, he had some hesitations. Jeremiah 1:4-7 says, “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations’ Then I said, ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.’ But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not say, “I am only a youth”; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.’”
Jeremiah didn’t feel prepared to do God’s work, but God called him anyway. If you don’t feel up to the task of being God’s representative to this generation, listen to what God said in Jeremiah 1:17.
God isn’t setting you up for failure. He’s paving the way for your success. But in order to succeed, you need to get ready. Dress yourself in righteous deeds (see Revelation 19:8). Rise up for action at God’s call. Tune in to God’s Word. And don’t let the world get you down, because Jesus has overcome the world (see John 16:33).
Prayer: Lord, make me ready to do Your will.
