Gender in Heaven?

I was wondering if there will be gender in heaven. Not that it really matters, but I was just curious. I know in Matthew 22:30, it tells us that we will not marry in heaven, we will be like the angels of God, but does that mean gender will cease? Maybe someone knows some more verses on this subject.

Matthew 22:30
"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."

I also found these verses...

Galatians 3:26-28
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Hi Cody

Moses and Elijah were recognised on the mount of Transfiguration. They were recognised as the men they were.

Re Matthew 22 :30 The purpose of marriage is to replenish the earth and keep the human race going. Resurrected saints and angels do not die and do not need to marry to keep their kind in existence. Hence there is no marriage among angels or resurrected men and women.

Re Gal 3 : 28 All races classes and sexes are one in Christ and equal in rights and privileges regarding gospel benefits. They form one body with Christ as the head The gulf between Jews and Gentiles, masters and slaves, male and female has been bridged by Christ and the gospel

My thoughts.......

Excellent thoughts brother Stephen. I read this thread of Cody2 probably 4 or 5 times and I did not know how to answer it.

I went to gotquestions and I was sad to find that they believe that our God is without gender, that He is not a man as the Bible states. So this threw me off course.

Why would we have a Father in heaven if He was not a man?

I think brother Stephen answered with true insight and nothing more needs to be added.

God bless

GOD IS A SPIRIT as we are and the angels are!
God give angels there bodies as HE will us!
But,What i gether by scripture?
Jesus CHRIST appeared in different forms .Angels also came down and appeared like men?
Which they do not look like us!
So these new bodies might be ,we can look like we want???
There is nothing soild in scripture to prove this?
But ,it does say ,we will look like HIM.
Now in revelations. He looks much different than when HE was on the earth?
I guess,The LOrd does not reveal every detail for us to fully know some things.
Many such things divid us.
But i do not think we will be mated ever again.
But it does say ? His kingdom will be without end and for the 1000 years of peace here. There will be husband and wifes!
I think we will be in our new bodies and not be part of these familys .But only ruling with our LORD!

Jesus as human was male, but GOD in Heaven is without gender, regardless us calling Him Abba (father). GOD is Spirit. On a side note, God did create us in His image and likeness, so both male and female share the qualities of GOD's image/likeness

John 4:24
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

I have just been praying about this issue and I sent Chad a private message last night. As I was thinking and praying there came a thought into my mind: "marriage of the Lamb". Thank you God!

I believe we will not marry or be given into marriage, because we are the bride of the Son of God. This may not be a union as human marriage, but rather it is a spiritual connection with God, we are His bride.

2 Corinthians 11:1-2
1I hope you will put up with a little of my foolishness; but you are already doing that. 2I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

Revelation 19:7
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

Revelation 21:9
One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."

Am I missing the point here today? Or could this be the reason? I don't like to speculate, many people say the bride of Jesus are not His body, but there's more doubt in my mind regarding that than most other things.

So my standpoint, yes there will be gender in Heaven, we will be married to Jesus in a spiritual and glorified union, and to me personally, God is Spirit, although I believe Spirit can be male or female, just like humans have male and female bodies and spirits.

God bless
Much love

Why would God need to have gender? He is God, a spirit. Isn't it possible that God is referred to He in the Bible, simply so we could understand. We are only human so we can only understand human lanuage. Just some thoughts about this subject. (This isn't my belief, just questions I run by my head when thinking about this subject.)

Good point. GOD is Spirit. We are humans. Just because GOD is referred to as Father and Jesus as Son of GOD, and was male in the flesh [human], does not automatically assume that GOD has gender. However, first person created was Adam, male. Eve was created from Adam. What does this show? That GOD shares both male and female *characteristics*. However, we look at GOD in the male *sense* because Jesus told us to pray to the "Father" in Heaven, and of course, Jesus Himself is the Son of GOD.

In the end, it doesn't matter much while we're here on earth. We have more important priorities, to preach the Gospel. We will know more about GOD when we meet Him in Heaven, thanks to Jesus!
