Hi im Susie from Australia

Super forum ive been reading it for a while

Hoping to grab a bit of advice here from other Christians.

im recently married and my children from previous marriage are finding it hard to call my newbie husband 'dad'

He said he wants that, but their used to calling him pops.

He siad I should submit to that rather than to the children

Seems Im stuck between a creek and crocodile

Any ideas what good and right to do

Cheers

Greetings,

Who's the creek and who's the croc?
Might be a good idea to post this in either Counseling or Parents & Couples. You might get some good advice.

I or we could advise you but if Pops needs to see things differently then that is something he needs to hear but not necessarily from you (meaning that if you try to tell him how to do things based on advice from here, it might not go down too well for you.)
Then again, he might be really cool about being advised by you?

Best you write something in Counseling ,as I said.

I would really have to search the Bible for an appropriate answer.
Aside from that, I would say that Biblically, a child should be taught to obey their Mother and Father. But it goes both ways, the new father should earn their respect and maybe the children will want to call him dad. If Pops, is a genuine term of endearment just because he is not their real dad, or if they call him Pops as a sarcastic act of revolt, well that is two different things and you must act accordingly, with the caveat that they are, after all children. Praying for help, God Bless!
BTW, welcome from "up above"! ;)
