And they received from Moses all the contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning, so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing, and said to Moses, "The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do." Exodus 36:3-5 ESV

If your church has ever held a capital campaign for a new building then you know the endeavor can seem nearly overwhelming, especially when you first hear the projected costs. Once you get over the initial shock, it’s amazing to watch God work through the extended efforts of His people as they sacrifice for His kingdom.

As Israel built the tabernacle, the place where God would meet with His people in the desert, He asked them to contribute gold, silver, bronze, yarn, linen, animal skins, wood, oil, spices for anointing oil, onyx stones, and more (Exodus 35:5-9). Their hearts were so engaged that the craftsmen had to ask Moses to tell them to stop bringing offerings.

When leaders at your church ask you to go the extra mile for a ministry project, are you as willing as the Israelites were? It requires a long-term commitment and a stick-to-it mentality, but how can you do anything less than go all in?

Prayer: Lord, give me the heart of the Israelites to invest my time, energy, money, and talent into Your kingdom for the long haul.
