Fulfilled Prophecy is Evidence God is in Control

Someone recently said to me that anyone who says you can't predict the future has obviously never watched Formula One. I'd go further than that, adding anyone who's never read the Bible.

“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10 NKJV

We've just celebrated Christmas, the beginning of God's implementation plan to rescue His wonderful but stupid people from their folly in rejecting Him in favour of rebellion and sin, either blissfully unaware or willing to risk the consequences of their choice and what a consequence that is, doesn’t bear thinking about.

There are many Old Testament prophesies not predicting, rather foretelling the coming of Jesus, or more correctly, the comings (plural). The Jews were quite aware of these, even giving Herod the heads up on the Messiah's birthplace. Matthew 2:5-6. Their error was their failure to understand that the Messiah would come down to Earth more than once. They were wanting and yearning His second coming Psalm 110:5-6, 2 Samuel 7:16 to kick Roman butts and free Israel from occupation. Even the Disciples had a similar notion Acts 1:6.

The Jews blinkered vision resulted in their missing the arrival of God's Holy son and His sacrificial battle and victory over death. Passages like Zachariah and Isaiah 53:1-12 were overlooked or explained away.

I'd like to warn so called prophetic experts, there's a good chance they have got God's plans wrong, just as the the Pharisees and religious leaders of the day did. Instead of arguing over theological theories, one camp against another, scan and really get to know your Bible and you'll recognise relevant events as they unfold and God's perfect plan plays out in intricate detail. Dogma is a tool of the enemy, designed to deceive.

Prior to Jesus's crucifixion, who'd have thought that Psalm 2:18 was a prediction of a squabble by soldiers over the Messiah's clothes Matthew 27:35?

How can we honestly know God's plans or get inside His head? Instead watch and prepare, prepare for a wedding feast that lasts forever - bring it on!
