In Rom 8:1-18. & Gal. 3-4-5-6.
There is much teaching us to recognise & live in the blessing & saving grace Jesus won for us on the cross.

What place in our lives as Christians does Tradition have.? :thumbs_up :thumbs_do

Individually how much tradition should we allow in our life. :embarasse
If you believe you know better do you help others walk in that freedom.? :shade:

Does Tradition stunt spiritual growth.?

The word religion means someone or a group of people who believe in a higher being. I think it depends on what you mean by tradition. please give an example.

In most cultures tradition is an enormas part of who we are as a people. Jesus rebuked the religious leaders for placing man-made traditions above His teachings. They certainly got carried away with them. Any student of the scripture will understand that tradition has its place but is not the focus. The focus should be on the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

Religion in some circles suggests religiosity that restrain the free movment
of the Holy Spirit.
:embarasse Tradition ; as stated by ''lettheredeemed'', being those actions & patterns that we have absorbed & see as part of our DNA.

i think the word religion has been given a bad spin the same as the word gay used to mean happyin regards to tradition i dont see anything wrong with them as long as they are not putbefore God or his law.

Let's just all learn the Word of God and serve Jesus. That is what matters. Learning Jesus and loving Him with all our mind body and souls. Let's learn how to be pure in heart and in mind and keep our body's a living sacrifice. We are to be a living temple for the Holy Spirit and that should be our every day goal and accomplishment. Let's praise the Lord for He is good!

Religion is man made Jesus did not create religion, but to have a relationship with Him.... We have turned religion into a farce a joke. It is just going to a building to see show. To me is all about outside of the box we call church not sitting in there every Sunday for an hour..
Just my two cents.

Mark 7:8 "You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."

James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Colossians 2:8 "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ."

“‘Do not go beyond the things that are written,’ in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other. For who makes you to differ from another? Indeed, what do you have that you did not receive? If, now, you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?”—1*Cor. 4:6, 7.

Worldly traditions affect practically every family in one way or another. Often people do not even realize the extent to which their thinking is conditioned by the ingrained traditions and customs of the community in which they live.

Some of these traditions, which deeply affect thinking and bring in divisions and prejudices, are national pride, pride of race or clan, pride of family and its historical accomplishments; pride of wealth, caste, color or language; pride of class or profession. Some families take much pride in their ancestors and the worship of them, in the military exploits and traditions of their forebears, in the antiquity of their ecclesiastical traditions. There can be no question that these traditions, which set one man or group apart from another, are in opposition to the godly principle of unity.

The apostle Paul condemned the worldly thinking of those who are “self-assuming, haughty, .*.*. puffed up with self-esteem.” (2*Tim. 3:1-7) “God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.” (1*Pet. 5:5) Anyone with such attitudes cannot really help his neighbors in the way of salvation, for they will prevent him from having a brotherly association with them. Therefore all should seek humility, as God’s Word states: “The very haughtiness of earthling man will humble him, but he that is humble in spirit will take hold of glory.”—Prov. 29:23.

Yes, pebosworth we are to take care of the orphans and widows and strangers. So many churches have forgotten that. I travel alot in the ministry my husband and myself do for the Lord. He leads we follow, and we get to see inside alot of churches and it makes my stomach sick to see what is happening. Judgement starts in the house of God first.. It is all about Him and Him be glorifyed....

Yes the contemporary church, that's a whole other topic all on it's own. The church has fallen away from biblical truth and have become man-centered. I have been studying the church and what it should be like and God has revealed some amazing truth's to me. I won't get into that on this thread because this thread is about traditions/religion so I will start a thread shortly about the contemporary church where we can all discuss some issues and hopefully together we can cause a revival.
