2 Chron 15:2; and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the LORD is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
2 Chron 15:3; "For many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law.
2 Chron 15:4; "But in their distress they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him.
The thing about relationships... if I've never been involved with a woman, she can never "leave" me, because
the was never any relationship to leave. A woman can only forsake me, if we had an agreement, a covenant,
a relationship with each other at some point.
It seems that God will never leave us of forsake us.
Deut 31:6; "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you."
Deut 31:8; "The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."
But even though He will never leave us... it seems that all through the Bible, people forsook Him.
Deut 29:25; Deut 32:15; Jdg 2:12-13; Jdg 10:6; 1 Kings 9:9; 2 Kings 21:22; 2 Chron 7:22; Isa 1:28; Isa 65:11; etc...
Even the New Testament warns about those who "turn away" or "turn aside" to follow Satan.
2 Tim 4:3-4; Titus 1:14; 2 Pet 2:21; 1 Tim 5:15; etc...
The ones who are already following Satan don't have to turn... they are already going in that direction.
John 10:28-29; says no man can pluck those who belong to Jesus out of His hand.
That's true, but there's nothing that says you can't choose to jump out of His hand on your own.
I am a pretty big guy, for a time I was in pretty good shape, maybe even a little intimidating.
You can be sure, I wasn't going to let anyone take my wife from me. (pluck her from my hand).
But in the end, it was her own decision... not the decision of some other man to leave me.
Forsaking God doesn't always happen all at once in one big decision.
Sometimes it's a slow change, a change in focus and attitude, it's losing your first love.
Sometimes it takes weeks, months, or maybe even years... but some people look back on their
lives and realize, somewhere along the way they forsook God and chose the world.
It wasn't really even a conscious decision, it just happened.
