Forgiveness Versus Reconciliation

So often we hear we're to work towards reconciliation in our relationships. But what do you think? Biblically speaking, does forgiveness ever not lead to reconciliation? Would it be biblically accurate to say that the Bible does not tell us to receive the person who has offended back into an intimate, close companionship if they have destroyed the trust? Does forgiveness require reconciliation? Thoughts?

I have a narcissitic mother, and the woman I fell in love with is also a narcissist, forgive them , yes. Reconcile with them? Never. My mother has caused all sorts of pyschological issues and her jealosy of my female friends became to much. A long and personal story, but suffice to say, I sure wont be contacting them ever again, nor even speaking to them if I see them downtown.

You make an interesting point. I don't know of an instance where the Bible requires reconciliation, and I think part of that has to do with reconciliation being mutual, whereas forgiveness is individual. While we can make a choice to harbor no ill feelings toward the person or persons who've offended, it doesn't necessarily mean it's wise to keep them close.
