Hi! for those of you who don't believe in eternal security, I have a question. Does Hebrews 6:4-6 mean that once we lose our salvation, we can never get it back? How would you interpret this scripture? Thank you.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,<SCRIPT type=text/javascript>cb(6,5);</SCRIPT> 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,<SCRIPT type=text/javascript>cb(6,6);</SCRIPT> 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript>cb(6,7);</SCRIPT>

Your quote can refer to professing Christians who fall into apostacy. Only God and the person involved know for certain the state of a person's heart where salvation is concerned. External appearences are not totally reliable.

"When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, 'Surely the Lord's anointed stands here before the Lord.' But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'" (1 Sam 16: 6-7)
