Although I didn’t realize it
The day that you were born
I was the luckiest person on Earth
Though from my body you were torn


Those three months early that you came
I worried as one may
But I got to watch you as you grew

Three months early I saw your eyes
Not many moms can say
I held your hand and kissed your head
And sang to you every day

And though to think of my sick boy
Is the hardest thing I’ve done
The hidden blessing through tear filled eyes
Was I finally had my son

I prayed for you more than anything
Ever in my days
And as your strength and health improved
By you I was amazed
