For a season, tongues fills up my quiet time

the Lord has wonderfully encouraged me to replace mostly all of my "zoned out" times with Him, with direct communication. I don't need to know what is said, the Holy Ghost opens and closes the anointing for tongues. Do you exercise your gift?

Yes, but not nearly as much as I should. You've reminded me to do so tonight before sleep. Thank you!

Always when I pray, whether it is first thing in the morning or during the day when I recognize a need I pray sometimes in English but always I also pray in an unknown tongue.

I know that I haven't come to that place of praying without ceasing mentioned by apostle Paul, but hopefully I am moving closer.

I used to think as a young man in the Lord that if I could make to natural old age, it would become easier to serve God. Well now approaching 72 I know that that is not the truth of it. It is easy to serve God when we put all that we have into it. It is hard to serve God when we try to ride the fence between the things we still desire from this world and the things of God:

"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." Rev 3:15-16

ophel, bac and amad, thank you, i felt like i was asking to be critized cause tongues is controversial, but i pray the Lord plants your feet on higher with abounding and unknown praises

No controversy for my part, friend robaston. I have some beliefs that would probably shock some people, but when I am pressed by the Holy Spirit I have to open my mouth or find myself in trouble. Believe me when I say that I have been in such trouble (quenching the Spirit)too many times since I first believed. Let's move on closer to God together!

this brings up interesting point of quenching. i have done so and this reaps missing out on blessing but BIGGEST result is you'll not get another opportunity to obey maybe for mnths, for you have hurt the "female" (maybe) feelings of God

We can pretty much expect to be opposed, but we know what the truth is, and we experience it. It is only controversial among those who do not believe it.

We serve an AWESOME God, whose very presence fills our very being, every atom filled with His light. Our tongues move according to His Spirit's power, speaking wonderful, glorious, unknown words of love, power, healing and victory!

Is God so like man on the one part or a female on the other part that we could hurt His feelings as we would another person's?

I do believe that Adam was more of a whole man when he was in the garden before Eve was separated from him. He gained a companion and helpmeet with the creation of Eve, but he lost a very important part of himself. [Can we really become like Him while we are constantly contending with our spouse?]

When there is no split between a man and woman (as a husband and wife are supposed to be) neither of them will take offense. Would it not be so with God? We may not much like Him yet, but are we not to become more like Him...?

In the respect you mention we would, I believe, be more like misguided children (either gender) than men (males). We would perhaps find ourselves in the place where we were causing Jesus to weep because we were careless with the tasks that God had set before us. A child is commonly quite selfish and a good parent will have to deal with that selfishness.

As adults when we are dealing with God, we really are too often as children acting very selfishly, aren't we? God is kind and patient and will continue to be so until we try to take advantage of His good feelings to further our selfish desires. Even a good parent will at times be blinded by a sharp child, but God is a lot sharper than even a good parent. God can see the heart.

good explanation elder amandeus, i do read your words because your pilgrimage probably longer. careless is key word...."but are we not to become more like Him...?" yes

His Spirit's power
i like this sis, it reminds of

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world
does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We
demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against
the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it
obedient to Christ.-- 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

go for broke ophel!

Oh, yes...!!!

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." I John 3:2
