Fool - This word is used over 180 times in the Bible.
But what does it really mean?

There are several words translated as fool.Hebrew words used are...
kesil - stupid, dullard, silly
evil - fool, foolish, morally bad, despising wisdom, quarrelsome
nabal - foolish, senseless
sakal - stupid, foolish, beligerent

Greek words used are ...
moros - moron, stupid, foolish, a mocker, licentious
aphron - without reason, foolish, a simpleton
moraino - tasteless, tainted, flat, insipid, stupid, or silly

The book of Proverbs alone mentions fools 76 times.

I notice six of the words above contain the definition "stupid".
That's pretty strong language. Does God really call people stupid?
In over 150 places He does.

I don't believe He is talking about the mentally handicapped here.
I believe He is talking about people who make a conscious decision
not to listen to Him, the teachings of the Bible, or His commandments.

We've all been foolish at some point in our lives...
I know I personally have done some "stupid" things. I have mocked,
I have been quarrelsome, and I have been silly.

I have hated wisdom... wisdom is slightly different from knowledge.
The difference to me is that knowledge can be gained from books (or
the internet in some cases) but wisdom is learned through the lessons
of life. Wisdom can be passed on... like from a parent.

But at some point we should mature past doing those things.
Much like we should quit being in bondage to certain sins.

It seem there are certain people who "know more than everyone else"
and sometimes consider everyone else as "stupid". But it's interesting
a fool hates instruction. One who can't listen or be taught is also
called a fool.

Another sign of being a fool is being quarrelsome. We've all been there
too. I know I have. Arguing or debating a point isn't always a bad thing. But some people start conversations about certain things, just for the sake of being argumentative or quarrelsome.

Being a fool is not a good thing in the Bible, it's always used as a negative quality. In many ways, being a fool is much like sinning.
In many ways, being a fool is much like sinning.
Agreed. Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Wow at 180 times its mentioned in scripture.
That doesn't even count the word "foolish". (55 times)

Jesus ends the sermon of the mount (His longest Sermon by far) by saying...
Matt 7:26; "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

Matt 25:2; "Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.
