"And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart."You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Teach your children. God wants you to. Sometimes that means verbally reinforcing your lessons. Other times it means showing them.

Today, many will celebrate Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. It can be a time to show what integrity in the workplace looks like. You could celebrate by demonstrating a great work ethic. Your children might learn by seeing you complete something in a team environment. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Your children could benefit from knowing that the work you do is important for the well-being of your family, and what work represents, and responsibility.

Celebrate the day even if you’re self-employed. Show your children it takes hard work to provide for your family, but you work because you love your family and care for their needs.

Your children pay attention to what you do even more than what you say. They follow your footsteps, making your example important. You shouldn’t be surprised when they want to be just like you. Perhaps that’s why God made your “daddy/mom footprint” so visible.
