Many Christians today are battling with depression. You may be one of them. Depression is yielding to a spirit of darkness. You can either fight this darkness from taking over your life or you can give in to it. You believe in Jesus and what He did for you at the cross, you're saved and on your way to heaven; but are you living for God? Are you trusting Him, obeying His Word, and yielding to the leadership of the Holy Spirit; or are you still living for you? As a born again Christian, Christ has made His home in you and He now lives through you. Depression is not part of your new birth, but it will try to creep in. As a Christian, you must fight against depression. You must allow the sanctification process of the Holy Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit will continue to operate in you and flow through you when you meditate in God's Word and pray. The Holy Spirit leads you unto all truth. Part of the truth you learn is that the enemy is out to destroy you, more so now that you are saved. 1 Peter 5:8-Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Depression comes by way of the enemy and he will bring you down unless you fight back! 1 Timothy 6:12-Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

So how do you fight back? You fight back by putting your focus on Christ and what He did for you on the cross. He delivered you from depression! Fight back the enemy with God's Word and prayer. Wear His armor at all times. Keep the enemy behind you! Matthew 16:23-Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns." Jesus is telling you to say, "Get behind me depression!"

As Christians, we must remember, depression has no dominion over us. We must keep Galatians 2:20 in the forefront of our minds: I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Lord, help us to fight back the spirit of depression as we stay grounded in Your Word and receive your healing power. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Love in Christ,
Jan :)
