Now it came to pass, when Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, that he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings, and the altar and all its utensils; so he anointed them and consecrated them. Numbers 7:1 NKJV

Numbers 7 describes the dedication ceremony of the tabernacle, including offerings to the Lord by each of the twelve tribes of Israel. The festivities went on for twelve days, and each tribe was responsible for specific offerings each day.

With the tabernacle completed and dedicated, Moses could meet with God there and speak with Him: “When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him” (Numbers 7:89).

God designed and commissioned the construction of the tabernacle for one reason: He wanted to spend time with His chosen people. It’s the same for us Christians today. God sent Jesus into the world so that He could establish fellowship with us. He welcomes us to come into His presence each and every day just so we can spend time with Him and He with us. Only now we don’t have to go to any man-made structure to do it. We can have heart-to-heart fellowship with our heavenly Father any time and any place.

Prayer: Father, thank You for doing what I could never do myself: establish intimate fellowship between You and me.
