In God (I will praise [His] word), In the LORD (I will praise [His] word), Psalm 56:10 NKJV
David wrote Psalm 56 in a time of great fear, loneliness, and desperation. He had been on the run from Saul, who intended to kill him, and ended up in a place called Gath (see 1 Samuel 21:10-15).
While David no doubt felt the same emotions any man would when his life is in danger, he focused on his conviction that God was with him and for him (Psalm 56:9). This wasn’t just David’s hope or plea; it was his trust in what God had already said.
In today’s world, very few men will ever face the kinds of threats David faced. But that doesn’t mean they won’t face situations that leave them feeling bewildered, confused, even afraid. But God is bigger than anything or anyone we could ever fear in this life. And not only that, this all-powerful, all-wise, all-loving God is unwaveringly for those of us He calls His children.
Knowing all this, what do you have to fear?
Prayer: Lord, life has a way of bringing fear into my heart at times. Help me to look past my fears and focus fully on Your greatness and Your plans for me.
