There is no realm of our being in which this discriminating power of Jesus Christ is so entirely important for the guidence of our moral and spiritual actions, ......as in the realm of faith.
For Christ regards faith as the only adequate supporting and sustaining power of all moral enthusiasm and energy.
Christ gets to the root of the whole tree of life when he discriminates between faith which is true and faith which is not true.
I am certain that everything that makes faith hard, or the way of holiness complex and un-natural, is of the devil. I am also convinced that we can get into the way of blessing if we will only get back to the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus.
True faith begins in the stimulation of conscience which we call conviction of sin.
It recognises the utter impossibility of refuting the contrast between the standard of God and the state of life.
It expresses itself in penitence: in sorrow for sin, and not only for its consequences. It realises an utter sense of weakness, of insufficiancy and need. And it means the utter and entire surrender to Jesus who is revealed as meeting all of the sin-created need of life; as the only one who can do sinners good.
Faith is thus not merely an act, but rather a series of acts. Faith is a maintained attitude of heart, an unquestioned obedience, an established loyalty at whatever cost.
That is the faith to which Christ always responds - a faith which works by love; a faith which is responsive to His every call: a faith which leaps out to obey every increasing apprehension of His will. How simple it is!
Faith which is just entire heart sympathy with Jesus as He reveals Himself.
"Never lose sight of Jesus....day and night he will keep you right.........Never lose sight of Jesus"
