do you think a person can be saved regardless of what he believes to be truth regarding salvation as long as he believes he is saved?

for example person believes he must do works to be saved, though this isn't required. is he still saved without fully trusting grace alone?

or person believes he needs works but does not do them, is he still saved?

or person loses his faith completely on salvation, is he still saved?

is it the truth from God we need to get correct or does simply faith that your good with God save you regardless of doctrine?

I believe if Salvation depends on the Christian having 100% correct doctrine we are all doomed. Nay I not only believe it, I know it to be undeniable truth. Let even one person in this forum say they are 100 % fool proof, (doctrinal wise) and I will say they are 100% more of a fool than the most foolish man or woman in the forum. (which may well be me) :embarasse

When Jesus said "Anyone that believes in me I will in no wise (NO WAY, NOT GONNA HAPPEN) cast out" did He forget to add..."unless someone does not get 100% on his/her theology test, then i`m certainly going to banish them from my kingdom" ?

Do you believe He which began a good work in us is able to complete it before the day of Salvation?

I do.

Because He said so.

Christ alone is the author and the finisher of our faith. To put that in plain English, He has said

"I started building your faith, and I will finish building it!"

Meanwhile...God bless we are mess!

1-2So what difference does it make who's a Jew and who isn't, who has been trained in God's ways and who hasn't? As it turns out, it makes a lot of difference—but not the difference so many have assumed. 2-6First, there's the matter of being put in charge of writing down and caring for God's revelation, these Holy Scriptures. So, what if, in the course of doing that, some of those Jews abandoned their post? God didn't abandon them. Do you think their faithlessness cancels out his faithfulness? Not on your life! Depend on it: God keeps his word even when the whole world is lying through its teeth. Scripture says the same:

Your words stand fast and true;
Rejection doesn't faze you.

But if our wrongdoing only underlines and confirms God's rightdoing, shouldn't we be commended for helping out? Since our bad words don't even make a dent in his good words, isn't it wrong of God to back us to the wall and hold us to our word? These questions come up. The answer to such questions is no, a most emphatic No! How else would things ever get straightened out if God didn't do the straightening? Rom.3:1-6

Yes indeed Coconut thank God He covered everything leaving nothing to anyone else. Just like the old adage "if you want something done right do it yourself" and God did just that.

We are absolutely saved by faith. Read Hebews 11. We are saved by faith, some will say we are saved by grace and this is the gift of God, this is true, but what is the gift that grace is giving? Faith!!! It isn't faith that gives us grace, it's grace that gives us faith!! Without Faith it is impossible to please God. Whoso ever BELIEVETH on him shall be saved. Faith is essential to salvation. Do we need to know all of specific doctrines, no probably not. We do need to study to show ourselves approved and study the word.

LOL Do you believe that a drowning person can be saved by knowing a life preserver is close by but still depends on his own efforts?

Of course you don't. JESUS gives us the faith to believe for salvation then HE gives us HIS faith to walk in it.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Faith is the energizing force that brings salvation Just like everything else in our lives.

yes i agree. just thinking of those essential beliefs if theres any.

like do you need to ackowledge your sinner and Jesus died for you?
can someone be born again saved by simply believing in Jesus?
(after becoming to believe that by Jesus you will get to heaven.)

Then it is belief that needs to be defined and not doctrine.

satan believes in Jesus (as in believing He exists, and even believes He is the Savior) and is none the twit better for it.

What happens when we truly "believe" we are dying, and there is only one Physician that can help us?

yes but perhaps knowledge of sins is not so essential. however there's certainly different views on this as well.
theres certainly views on everything.
and my point is one must not nessesarily know how sinful he is exactly if at all as long as he understands the need of salvation through Jesus.

Receiving Christ is accepting God's solution for our sin and turning away from life on our own terms (repentance). It is trusting Jesus to eternally remove our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. It is believing that God raised (resurrected) Jesus from the dead as the Scriptures teach. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We receive Jesus Christ by faith. Real Biblical faith is evidenced by a corresponding action. These initial actions are evidenced through our decision to turn from the way of "self" to God's way by praying to receive Jesus Christ.

the act of the cross alone is the power of God unto salvation..nothing else gets you there.salvation can not come from works according to the word or any thing else and if you dont share that one fact the rest will be stubble and hay before the Lord when it counts the most...once you establish the blood sacrafice and price paid it becomes a faith walk...until that happens we are all lost..with out one redeeming quality, unlovable, undone and in utter darkness...Rev

That is a good question, infants don't know so they can't sin.
How could you understand the need for food without hunger?
Since the goodness of God leads us to repentance then we must have some kind of concept of un-goodness.
I used to have a pastor who said"you gotta get em lost before you can get em saved".His method of getting them lost was not pretty and no one ever repented because of the goodness of God,only the fear of eternal torture.

Anyway I can't figure out which comes first, someone who has hurt many people might experience God's goodness just by being forgiven.
But what about someone who was born in a loving family and led a good life, how would they see the need?
I don't have it figured out but I think this verse is a clue:
Romans 11:32 For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Since we were born, our perspective on life was determined by that of those closest to us. Our family tradition, the community where we grow up, things like these.

And that perspective may or may not include the Gospel.

But however we ended up hearing the Gospel, that's when we start to get a glimpse of a different perspective. Backed by God's standard of righteousness, now we have something different, something alien to our self-centered mind to think about.

At the end of that thinking process (this may take a long time for some), is the decision we face whether to believe or reject the Gospel.

If we believe, that marks the start of our lifetime transformation into becoming like Him, our Lord. At that point, a "baby" or "beginner" Christian is born. Whether the baby will become mature in Christ or not, that's a separate discussion.
