I recall this song as a youth......so sad as that such victory in Jesus expressed in song is unknown today......

Perhaps it would be better to say that such victory in Jesus is unbelieved today; that when such verses are sung now people see them as nice sounding words but, limited by their twenty-first century microwave mentality and failing to understand that God exists outside of time, they don't see the victory as being possible for them.

I read many songs composed by Wesley in an old Christian book.

Could that guy write verse, one of the best I have seen.

I would prefer to sing his verses, but alas I must remain up to date.

We must focus on Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven, that does not age.

Forget what is behind and keep moving with the Holy Spirit.
