There are three camps of thought on this in Christianity. Which camp are you in?
1. Those who believe faith in Jesus alone cannot save you.
You need to have faith in your works. Unless for example, you die for Jesus and reject the mark of the beast you won't go to heaven. Constant good works > faith.
2. Those who believe faith in Jesus is a continuous mental exercise.
A type of positive thinking. Believing the unseen is real. Believe miracles are real and they will happen if you have no doubt. Self brain-washing. Prosperity and health is a sign of Christianity.
3. Those who have real faith in Jesus.

Those in camp one and two are not Christians. At risk of being inoculated against the truth. Becoming un-teachable.
So, what is faith in Jesus and what value does God see in this that warrants Him grafting us into His family for all eternity?
Faith in Jesus is a belief that Jesus is the Son of God (which according to Isa 9:6 makes Him God) and that His blood shed, washes you clean of your sin.
The only way we can arrive at such a belief is via a revelation from God Himself.
1 Cor 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Matt 16:16-17 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven
Who does God give this revelation of Jesus to?
The whomsoever will come to Him.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
How do we ''come to God''?
We repent of our sins!!!
Luke 5:32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded
Conclusion:
Stop playing with faith like it is a mental exercise on par with positive thinking. Stop thinking that faith in Jesus is not sufficient to save you from your sin. Examine yourself harshly and ensure that you are a Christian 2 Cor 13:5. If you have truly repented of your sins and can call Jesus Lord without doubt, you are a Christian. You do not need to prove yourself again and again to God. Move on, be a good ambassador for Jesus. Stop trying to get the job and start doing it.
