1 Corinthians chapter 13 is often called the love chapter in the Bible. It gives a pretty good definition of love, but it ends with this familiar verse.

1 Cor 13:13; But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

A Biblical definition of love....

1 Cor 13:1; If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Cor 13:2; If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
1 Cor 13:3; And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
1 Cor 13:4; Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
1 Cor 13:5; does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
1 Cor 13:6; does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
1 Cor 13:7; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Cor 13:8; Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.

Jesus showed the greatest love of all considering He said...

John 15:12; "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
John 15:13; "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Hebrews 11 is called the faith chapter of the Bible, it gives a pretty good definition of faith.
It talks about how people acted out their faith in action. Almost always faith requires an act of obedience.

Heb 11:1; Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Heb 11:2; For by it the men of old gained approval.
Heb 11:3; By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
Heb 11:4; By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks.
Heb 11:5; By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God.
Heb 11:6; And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

God rewards those who seek Him.

Heb 11:7; By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Heb 11:8; By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Heb 11:9; By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;
Heb 11:10; for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
Heb 11:11; By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised.
Heb 11:12; Therefore there was born even of one man, and him as good as dead at that, as many descendants AS THE STARS OF HEAVEN IN NUMBER, AND INNUMERABLE AS THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEASHORE.
Heb 11:13; All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

Heb 11:17; By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son;
Heb 11:18; it was he to whom it was said, "IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED." ______ (also see James 2:21-23;)
Heb 11:19; He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type.
Heb 11:20; By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come.
Heb 11:21; By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.
Heb 11:22; By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones.
Heb 11:23; By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's edict.
Heb 11:24; By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
Heb 11:25; choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

Heb 11:30; By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days.
Heb 11:31; By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.
Heb 11:32; And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets,

So, OK that's love and faith.. but what about hope? It seems hope is similar to faith in some ways. One big difference is that hope doesn't require
an act of obedience to go along with it. Hope is simply hope.

Rom 8:23; And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
Rom 8:24; For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
Rom 8:25; But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Matt 12:21; is a quote of Isaiah ( Isa 11:10; )
Mat 12:17; This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet:
Mat 12:18 "BEHOLD, MY SERVANT WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN; MY BELOVED IN WHOM MY SOUL is WELL-PLEASED; I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT UPON HIM, AND HE SHALL PROCLAIM JUSTICE TO THE GENTILES
Matt 12:21; "AND IN HIS NAME THE GENTILES WILL HOPE."
So is this verse in Acts from Isaiah.
Rom 15:11; And again, "PRAISE THE LORD ALL YOU GENTILES, AND LET ALL THE PEOPLES PRAISE HIM."
Rom 15:12; Again Isaiah says, "THERE SHALL COME THE ROOT OF JESSE, AND HE WHO ARISES TO RULE OVER THE GENTILES, IN HIM SHALL THE GENTILES HOPE.

Of course Jesus is the root of Jesse that rules over the Gentiles (He isn't only King of the Jews, he is Lord of Lords and King of Kings).

Acts 2:26 is quoting King David. ( Psa 16:9; )
Acts 2:26; 'THEREFORE MY HEART WAS GLAD AND MY TONGUE EXULTED; MOREOVER MY FLESH ALSO WILL LIVE IN HOPE;

Acts 24:15; having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.
Acts 24:16; "In view of this, I also do my best to maintain always a blameless conscience both before God and before men.

Col 1:27; to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Part of the armor of God mentions hope.

1 Thes 5:8; But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

Heb 10:23; Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;

Some believe that faith comes from God. Possibly it does. But what about love? Well the Bible says God is love. (as well as many other things)
But loving one another is a command. (over a dozen times in the new testament).
What about hope? Does hope come from God? Surely we have hope in God. But does God have hope in us? If not,why is hope so important?

Jer 29:11; 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
