The dragon drew its breath with nostrils smoking while Lance tried to raise himself off the ground from the last blow he had taken from its tail. The next exhale from the dragon would certainly be deadly flames directed at ending Lance's life. Every muscle in his body was exhausted, and with no strength left, he braced himself for the searing flames that would engulf and consume him at any second. Out of the corner of his eye, Lance saw movement from a familiar figure that ran directly into the path of the dragon. His body found just enough strength to take a better look; yes, it was his love, Melissa, putting herself directly in the path between him and the dragon. The flames would now consume both of them in the next fiery breath. Immediately, Lance found new strength in his tired muscles, and in one movement, his hand had grasped his sword, raised his body to its feet, and heaved the sword directly into the dragon's throat, severing its air supply. In the next motion, Lance swept Melissa from the shadow of the falling beast and set her feet gently down, out of the clutches of danger.

Romance, adventure, exploration, and discovery are engrained into our souls almost as much as each breath we breathe. God made each one of us with the stuff it takes to explore the ocean's floor, climb the highest mountain, or even discover the world's most precious jewels.

God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth." God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God's nature. He created them male and female. (Genesis 1:26-27, The Message)

In the most extravagant, romantic story ever, God made us in His image and likeness to be as extravagantly romantic and creative as He. That creative romance is what every person in the world longs to see, live, and would be willing to die for. God gave everything, including His son, Jesus, to die on the cross, so that we would be romanced and know that we are loved by Him beyond measure.

It may take a lifetime to train and develop ourselves to be extravagantly romantic to our spouses, our children, and the rest of the world; however, through God's own example, Christ, He has instructed us to do so. It is impossible to obtain the skill without attempting to develop it. Our families and the world need desperately to see God's extravagant romance, and He has chosen to show it through our lives.
