Explain Sacrifice in Ministry!!!
I and many others, need help in this one!!!
I have been in leadership of the church for the last 14 years and have heard it said again and again that ministry comes with necessary sacrifices to marriage, your children, friends and the list can go on.
In talking with other pastors / youth pastors / leaders in Christian camping ministries etc......the same feelings.
Where in Gods word does it say this?
I know the passages of this walk is not going to be easy and Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice with His life.
Pauls journey when you read about all the trials he went through must have been a lonely road many times.
In being challenged of needing to save my marriage of 31 years I have chosen to step out of ministry leadership which was and still is my passion but my marriage is more important.
I can do a whole list of very important ministry needs that we must serve into, yet I have trouble believing we serve a God who would have families separate in the name of ministry. Or have the pastor working into the late hours sooo much that he ends up burnt out and leaving the church.
How do we get into this state of deception? Better yet for many others out there, HOW!!! do we find that much needed balance so the above lists dont overwhelm us to the point of controlling us 24/7??
I pray that your input will help the many out there that are so caught up in this trap they don't know it!!!
My wife is also in major ministry of the church and our paths cross if we get out our day planners and set a time for each other. Otherwise forget it even happening.
