Exhibition Season - July 14, 2007
All sports have an exhibition season. This is where the teams and players get ready for the regular season by honing their skills and getting in 'game shape'. After a certain point in time, after many hours of practice and training, they play exhibition games against other opponents. Scores are kept, there are winners and losers. However, once the regular season starts, most coaches and managers will tell you that the exhibition season means nothing. Teams that do well in the exhibition season don't necessarily win their division or league and teams that do badly may go all the way to the championship.
Right now, we are living our exhibition season. In our view as people, there are 'winners' and 'losers' in life. Winners may become rich and powerful, or losers may lack even the bare essentials in life. Either way, it has no bearing on the regular season. When we die, our regular season and playoffs begin. Our record in the preseason is meaningless. However, there is one way to the championship, one Player that will take us 'all the way'. It doesn't matter how good a player we are, He is good enough to carry the whole team. His name is Jesus, and all he asks is that we sign on. Let him know that you are a sinner (we all are), that you are sorry for your sins, and that you believe that He is the only way. That's it. You're on your way to the best championship party ever!
