Is everyone an ancestor of Eve?

We are all decendants of Adam and Eve. Since they were the first humans, they had no ancestors. By definition, an ancestor is a family member who was born before you were born.

Hi Cody 2,

Adam and Eve had sons Cain, Abel and Seth. This is not all though.

'After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.' (Gen 5:4)

I believe that we are decended ultimately from Adam and Eve. God told moses that we should not have relationships with close relatives in Leviticus but in the beginning the blood line was pure and there was no need for this law then. So the decendants of Adam and Eve would be our ancestors also.

Eve is the first woman so is our ancestor and the start of the matrilineal line.

God Bless

What about this man, Melchisedec in Hebrews Chapter 7. (KJV)

1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Is it saying he did not have a mom or dad?

Hi Cody2,

I don't believe so.

'Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever' this is the NIV translation.

'There is no record of his father or mother or any of his ancestors—no beginning or end to his life. He remains a priest forever, resembling the Son of God.' this the New Living translation.

I believe that the passage is simply saying there is no record of Melchizedek's genealogy.

God Bless
