It seems some Christians have a flair for the dramatic. Things get over inflated, problems get blown out of proportion, and ego's swell and deflate. The world goes on.

When you read some of their messages, they are victims. Victims of the church, of society, of bad relationships, bad marriages, bad jobs, bad parents... the list goes on.

It's other Christians fault they are in the place they are in, it's the churches fault they are depressed. I think these people carry a roll of police tape around with them, and everytime
something doesn't go their way, they put up the victim tape all around themselves. Nothing ever seems to be their own fault.

The Bible says we overcome by the blood of the lamb, ..and.. the word of our testimony. How is your testimony looking?
The Bible says we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. The Bible says greater is He who is in us, than he who in the world.

If these things are true then why are so many Christians depressed, down-trodden, and defeated all the time. The joy of the Lord is our strength!
Jesus is still on the throne!! God is still in control!!

Are you in retreat, are are you advancing the kingdom? Do you have your armor on? Are you prayed up and full of the Spirit?
.. or are you just sitting around needing to be "fed". The churches are full of people who want to be fed. They've been fed for 20 years and they're still not full.
Their gas tanks are full, but they're afraid to go anywhere.

The spirit of fear is not from God! The gates of hell shall not prevail against the church! All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. No weapon formed against you will prosper.
Now is not the time to shrink back in fear. Now is the times to be bold, to proclaim good news to the poor, heal the broken-hearted, and set the captives free.

He who been set free is free indeed! Jesus cam to give life and give it more abundantly!! se prudence and wisdom... sure, certainly... be be afraid? I don't think so.

Why do so many sit around and think of excuses not to go?
The climate is gonna get us. Covid is gonna get us. Bad teaching and false prophets are gonna get us.
But maybe God is sovereign over all these things.

Hi BAC,

A thought provoking post but for the greater part of what you say I'd come at it from a different angle. We born again believers know that the root cause of all the world's problems and issues is the effect of sin, and it affects us all. Health problems, mental health problems, self-esteem, difficult relationships.

A lot of physical health issues stem from poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle, we seemed to have swapped that for our parent's smoking and excessive drinking habits. Paul tells me that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit; now I know he was talking largely about abstinence from sin but that verse can equally extend to include praise and worship of God (which is what you do in a temple) and your physical wellbeing in terms of diet and exercise. Your body was created for you by God, look after it instead of treating it like a demolition site.

When I was younger mental health problems were present but much less of an issue than they are today. Back in the day you had to 'pull yourself together' otherwise you ended up in a psychiatric hospital, zombified on Largactil with no therapy or treatment, until you were deemed no longer a threat to yourself or others. Nowadays, great strides have been made in the field of mental health so we're much more likely to come across people that suffer whereas in the past they'd be locked in a room or an asylum. I wouldn't want to go back to those days.

For all of us our bodies are ravaged to a greater or lesser extent by sin, and not necessarily our sin but also past generations' sin, John 9:2. So to our brothers and sisters who struggle with issues, we have to show them love, care and consideration. Have to? Yes, it's one of Jesus's two commandments John 13:34. It's not always easy, try quoting Matthew 6:25:33 to a brother / sister with mental health issues - “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

The problem is that by definition metal health sufferers don't think logically and cannot relate to reassurances, but they can relate to kindness and love and with prayer and lots of one to one fellowship, eventually, the penny will drop and they will improve. That goes for those just having a bad day, as much as for those with chronic illness.

If a sibling came to you with a big problem and you dismissed him/her saying; 'Stop being a victim', the relationship between you is likely to head south pretty quick.

not necessarily our sin but also past generations' sin, John 9:2.

John 9:2 doesn't say this. The disciples asked if this was the case, but Jesus answers no. Neither he or his parents. (Besides, how could he sin before he was born?)

If a sibling came to you with a big problem and you dismissed him/her saying; 'Stop being a victim', the relationship between you is likely to head south pretty quick.

Sometimes people need help, sometimes even when they make bad decisions we should help them. A lot of it depends on where their heart is.
But if they're making a life-style on being a victim, and I refuse to help them after a few times... I say let the relationship go. You aren't helping them, you're enabling them.

Luke 17:3; Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
Luke 17:4; “And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
