Ours is the age of television, internet, iPods, tablets, etc. Sometimes we catch ourselves watching life more than living it. We get caught in the trap of living life vicariously through watching television or surfing the internet. We have to be careful not to escape from life into the world of visual stimulation. We spend so much time analyzing situations and opportunities that we never act. Procrastination is something we all do from time to time. We procrastinate because we're afraid of failure. But, the only people who never fail are those who never try anything. If we try, we will fail. That's okay. Failures lead to success. Many people fail to live life because they aim for perfection. As a Christian, our goal is not to reach perfection, but to do whatever we do with excellence. Mark Twain said, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the the things you did. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Jesus said, "I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly,"-John 10:10.
So, let's try not to catch ourselves constantly sitting on the couch watching life on a big screen TV. Let's make a conscious effort to get out of the house and live life! What creative idea do you have that's been sitting with you on the couch, that's waiting to come alive?
We need to get up, get out and live this abundant life! God has given all His children creative ideas. God gave you an idea that you've been thinking about for a while now, but you just keep putting it off! Remember, the Holy Spirit came to live in us to be our Helper. He's waiting on you to ask Him how to get this thing going.
God, give us the courage to act on these creative ideas you've put in our minds and hearts. Holy Spirit, show us the next step. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
