He had hardly finished speaking the words when the ground suddenly split open beneath them. The earth opened its mouth and swallowed the men, along with their households and all their followers who were standing with them, and everything they owned. Numbers 16:31-32 NLT
Have you ever felt at least a small twinge of jealousy over how God is using another person? Maybe you felt that if you were in someone’s role, you could do the job better.
This is at least close to how Korah felt toward Moses and Aaron. As a Levite, Korah served in the tabernacle, but he wasn’t a priest, and he didn’t have the same connection to God as priests had. So instead of just faithfully seeing to the responsibilities God had given him, Korah complained against Moses and Aaron: “They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, ‘You have gone too far! ‘The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?’” (Numbers 16:3).
Korah allowed his jealousy to consume his heart and, as a result, he not only lost out in serving God but was consumed by the earth at His command.
Nothing good will come from being like Korah!
Prayer: Father, help me to be content with what You have for me to do and to not focus on assignments You’ve given others.
