But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about." So the disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought him something to eat?" John 4:32-33 ESV
You may have sung that the joy of the Lord is your strength, but Jesus told His disciples that obedience to God the Father’s will sustained Him like a full meal. While Jesus surely followed up that declaration with a substantial meal eventually, how could such an encounter leave Him feeling strong and steady, filled up, and satisfied?
By doing God’s will and blessing others, you will find yourself moving in step with Him…with nothing to hide, nothing to explain away, and a peace that your decisions are leading you in the right direction as you bless others. Just as Jesus found His place in the world, obedience to God can also place you in a position to feel settled over your own place here. As you watch God moving through others, leading them to freedom, you’ll find a sense of satisfaction greater than anything food can offer.
Everyone has a hunger to find a purpose in life, and Jesus offers the recipe no one else can beat.
Prayer: Jesus, help me to find satisfaction and fulfillment in doing the Father’s will.
