 I was looking up a passage that is in the Bible and chanced upon this phrase in Ecclesiastes 9. It goes like this.... Wisdom Better Than Folly

13 I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: 14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siegeworks against it. 15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. 16 So I said, "Wisdom is better than strength." But the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

Sounds to me like they are talking of Jesus. His wisdom is despised and His words are no longer heeded. Hmm. Sure sounds like our era.

I think it is a beautiful passage, humble and meek.

Amen:Pixie

Hi Pixi,
I found this in Matthew Henry Concise Commentary. I hope it helps.

Verses 13-18 A man may, by his wisdom, bring to pass that which he could never do by his strength. If God be for us, who can be against us, or stand before us? Solomon observes the power of wisdom, though it may labour under outward disadvantages. How forcible are right words! But wise and good men must often content themselves with the satisfaction of having done good, or, at least, endeavoured to do it, when they cannot do the good they would, nor have the praise they should. How many of the good gifts, both of nature and Providence, does one sinner destroy and make waste! He who destroys his own soul destroys much good. One sinner may draw many into his destroying ways. See who are the friends and enemies of a kingdom or a family, if one saint does much good, and one sinner destroys much good.

Your letter was recieved Stephen

:rose: Thank you for your note. I love to see the Old Testament, brought forth to the New Testament. I remember most quotes when they are shown to me.
Thanks for reminding me of the Greatness of God. Amen:Pixie:love:

Hello pixie. Some would see Jesus portrayed as 'Wisdom' in the book Ecclesiastes. Jesus can be seen in every book of the bible.

In Genesis.....He is the "Seed of the Woman"
In Exodus......He is the "Passover Lamb"
In Leviticus....He is our Great High Priest"
In Numbers ...He is "The Pillar of Cloud by Day and Fire by Night.
In Deuteronomy..He is a "Prophet like unto Moses"....................

In Psalms He is "The Lord My Shepherd"

In Proverbs and.. In Ecclesiastes...He is "Wisdom"
In the Song of Solomon He is "THe Altogether Lovely"

And so on..........
