TAU Let my cry come before You, O LORD; Give me understanding according to Your word. Let my supplication come before You; Deliver me according to Your word. My lips shall utter praise, For You teach me Your statutes. Psalm 119:169-171 NKJV

The writer of this psalm imagined his prayers rising up before the Lord, who heard his supplications and took action. As a result of God’s actions, he would be able to praise Him with thanksgiving. This was a simple prayer—asking God to give him understanding. God will certainly respond to such a request, even if the details of this understanding may not be immediately apparent at first.

What are you praying about right now? Do you have similar confidence that your prayers are rising up to God and being notice? Maybe you’ve had some doubts or fears that God has counted you out or that prayer just isn’t working. You may imagine your prayers hitting the ceiling and stopping there.

Today’s devotional is an invitation to seek understanding and wisdom so that you can live in obedience to God. Perhaps the most important place to start with prayer is the content of your prayers, looking to God for wisdom so that you can fulfill His desires and respond to Him in joy and gratitude.

Prayer: Father, help me to pray with confidence that my prayers rise up before You.
