As far as the east is from the west, [So] far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities [his] children, [So] the LORD pities those who fear Him. Psalm 103:12-13

When the author of the psalms looked for a metaphor to describe God, he settled on the image of a father caring for his children and treating them with compassion, regardless of their failures. There's no mistaking that God desires obedience and trust from His children, but he's not about to cast away His beloved children if they sin. In fact, God makes a point of separating His children from their sin. Their sins play no part in what He thinks of them.

Can you imagine that God looks at you without any thought of your past failures and mistakes? Whatever story from your past that makes you cringe or causes you to feel unworthy before God He has made into a distant memory.

This is not an excuse to sin. Like any parent, God desires to be close to you and wants what's best for you. That includes your obedience. However, God has taken your worst parts and thrust them from you as far as possible.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for making me Your beloved child and removing my sins from what You think of me.
