6"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst,.... Not after the riches, honor,
and pleasures of this world, but after righteousness; by which is meant,
not justice and equity, as persons oppressed and injured; nor a moral, legal
righteousness, which the generality of the Jewish nation were eagerly pursuing;
but the justifying righteousness of Christ, which is imputed by God the Father,
and received by faith. To "hunger and thirst" after this, supposes a want of
righteousness, which is the case of all men; a sense of want of it, which is only
perceived by persons spiritually enlightened; a discovery of the righteousness of
Christ to them, which is made in the Gospel, and by the Spirit of God; a value for it,
and a preference of it to all other righteousness; and an earnest desire after it, to
be possessed of it, and found in it; and that nothing can be more grateful than that,
because of its perfection, purity, suitableness, and use: happy souls are these,
(Think of when you have physically exerted yourself and the temperature is close to
100! You really WANT water. That is what he is getting at here not just oh it would be
nice but I can take it or leave it mentality. It is something you pursue!)

for they shall be filled: with that righteousness (content satisfied, at peace, joyful) and
with all other good things, in consequence of it; and particularly with joy and peace,
which are the certain effects of it: or, "they shall be satisfied", that they have an
interest in it; and so satisfied with it, that they shall never seek for any other
righteousness, as a justifying one, in the sight of God; this being full, perfect,
sufficient, and entirely complete.

Dear Sister,
Yes i can understand with hunger and thirst for Jesus.
It feels like i would never have enough. Everytime i think it's enough,i catch something that magnificent, make me want to shout "MORE MORE MORE, give me MORE!
Never enough to having Jesus here!"
I jumping and laughing and .. Oh... sometimes kinda embarassed, but it's fine, i just want MORE , right?:star:

Glorify the LOrd who have so many sides for us to know,to praise and to worship. HALLELUJAH:note:

This spiritual hunger and thirst is experienced by all people, it is a vacuum, created by God that can only be filled with God.

A born again Christian can still this hunger and thirst with a personal relationship and communion with God.

When we neglect to get nourishment from God we became weak and can't resist the attacks from the enemy sufficiently. It is very very important for our spiritual wellbeing to spent time with God daily, to fill up our tanks so to say.

When you are hungry remember God have a feast at His table, go and help yourself with whatever you need.

Great post sister, it is a very important subject.

Blessings!

We sing a worship song in my Church a line of which says "I'm desperate for you"

Yes we do need the Lord Jesus today. We do need His mighty Holy Spirit in our lives. This alone will enable us to combat and deliver the oppressed, the drug addict, the lost............Only God can help us. The Christian, born again believer is the answer........

Oh glory be to Father, how I love this kind of thread. There is something about a desperate people that that draws the Lord near. When someone becomes desperate they generally do not give care how they appear to others, they are unashamed. King David danced until he was naked, John the baptist wore clothes made of camel hair and ate locusts, even Paul endure many afflictions and was imprisoned and yet was unashamed. HolyGhost make us hungry and thirsty for Jesus!
