A good day to each of you!

In school I had to make a presentation about "the differences between the American and German society" - now my problem is that I have not many information about the american society or what is typical for it and thought of this forum here - full of Americans who maybe can help and tell me about some differences or typical things for Americans and their society (specially how they life like etc.)

in addition to this question I'll number some questions and so maybe some of you could pitch on one or two questions to answer it

I hope you can understand them - I'm sorry: my English is not very good

1. What do most Americans think about their president (Bush) and about supporting the war like he does?

2. How is your picture about the Germans? (and please: be honest! I'll not be angry  )
(only bib overall and beer mug?)

3. Are "The Simpsons" a typical American family? How famous and favored are them in America? (by the way: in Germany we love them )
(If yes: what is typical? - if no: what is untypical?)

4. How many times a week do you eat fast food? Are they fast-food-families and no-fast-food-families?

5. Do you have many friends from the other cultures, maybe the Afro-Americans or the Spanish ones? Or do you mainly stay in your "groups"?

6. In Germany most people think that you pamper your kids too much - only "good boy/girl" and don't be strict - what do you think?

7. What do you exacctly understand under the "American way of life"?

8. What do you think/hear about environmental pollution? Does the media(e.g.TV) tell about this problem in the news?

9. In which age is it normal that their are couples between boys and girls? Is it normal that the boy first had to talk with the parents of the girl before he is alowed to go out with her?

10. What do you think about Britain and its people? And are the Harry Potter books popular in America? (and also hated by some christians?)

11. What is the main religion in America?

12. Is there a problem with the muslims after september the eleventh?

Thanks for reading all this stuff and all the answers!

May God bless you!

P.S. this presentation I have to make on the end of February - so please don't answer after middle(maybe 15th) of February, because then it would be too late. Thank you again!

I once referred to myself as american...and was told by an american that I absolutely was NOT an american...to wit I answered...is it so awful for you americans to acknowledge who you share this continent with? :whistle-animated:

I therefore...being Canadian...am not sure I qualify as american enough,
even in Germany, to answer your questions... :bored:

Which is a real shame...cause i`m quite itchin to! :kitten:

that's hard Coconut

here in Germany it's often the other way round: people imigrating into Germany don't feel German enough to say that they are Germans - although they have got the german citizenship, are born here and have kids going to our schools...

most Germans are happy if an immigrant says: hello people - I'm German..

what about the other people here? Can someone of you answer these questions?

Thanks for your help...

I haven't learned much here, but one thing: American christians seems to be very unhelpful..

I'm sorry..!

best regards
Anni
