Difference between signs, wonders, types and miracles.

Member
A miracle is an extraordinary event of natural or Divine occurrence which exceeds known human capabilities, understandings and powers.

Broadly, there are two types of miracles: signs and wonders.

Signs

A sign may be an object or something happening to signify something (e.g. planetary orbits, solar eclipses, and stars - Genesis 1:14).
A sign may also be a divine intervention by God to perform a miracle (eg Jesus turning water into wine, John 2:11). Such as a sign of Divine authority.

Wonders
A wonder is something which causes people to marvel, be astounded or even terrified. A wonder is a special manifestation of God's power (Exodus 7:3)
Types
A type or symbol, typifies or symbolizes something. Common types throughout the old and new testament are everyday things such as trees, rocks, rods, buildings, water, bread, wine, fish, storms, eating, drinking, to represent spiritual matters.

The difference between true miracles and false miracles
Miracles from God usually give us a spiritual truth, to give us spiritual understanding, insight, instruction or correction. When God works a miracle there is often a type present. For example when Jesus turned water into wine, it was a sign of His Divine power, it was also a wonder that caused people to marvel, and the symbols of water, wine, jars, and wedding feast, are all symbolic for spiritual truths. Generally speaking a true miracle from God is purposeful, and not an unexplained matter of chance or coincidence. This is how we can know that images of Christ or Mary on toilet bowls, pieces of toast, or crying statues, for example, are not true miracles but only coincidences or frauds.
