Galatians 3:1-14

King James Version

3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

The Galatians were talked into doing the works of the old law, which are the purification works, like circumcision and the observance of special days.

Paul is in no way speaking against obeying Jesus.

You misunderstand Paul.

The Galatians were saved by faith in Jesus' blood purifying/justifying them, and not the purification works, but then some Jews came around and told them to observe special days and get circumcised, etc.

Galatians 4:9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? 10 You observe days and months and seasons and years.…

Galatians 5:2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.

We understand:

"But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! (Galatians 2:17)

For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith (Galatians 5:5)

There is one God who will justify the circumcised BY FAITH AND the uncircumcised THROUGH FAITH (Romans 3:30)

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly;
and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God (Romans 2:28-29)

And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants,
to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may LIVE (Deuteronomy 30:6)

The righteous (those who practice righteousness - 1 John 3:7) live by faith.

God justifies us of past sins and cleanses us of unrighteousness as we repent and confess our sins to save us from our sin/iniquity and to make us righteous (believers who practice righteousness) until we are justified when God sanctifies us as being righteous by imputing His righteousness to us by making us one Spirit with the Lord.

But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him (Acts 10:35)

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of

wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that

those who practice such things WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD (Galatians 5:19-21).

Salvation is our being forgiven of trespasses/sins/transgressions committed by faith in Jesus Christ as we confess our sins,..........

AND God taking away/cleansing/purifying us our sin/iniquity/unrighteousness by Jesus Christ being formed in us as we continue to repent of sin to make us holy.

In the name of the Lord Jesus,..........may God bless

The scripture also applies to the question "Did you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit by a sign, or by faith?"

Matthew 12
:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Luke 11:9-13

King James Version

9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”

Ask in faith…..

James 1:5-7

King James Version

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”

Those scriptures are about God and His children.

You have to be a child of God's to ask for things and be given.

We have to confess and repent of our sins to get saved.
Ephesians 2:5
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Romans 4:4
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

You act like there isn't a false faith alone doctrine out there.
As I told you before, faith without works is dead. There are many false doctrines and beliefs out there, including those who think they can earn the grace of God, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit based on their own works.

The scripture also applies to the question "Did you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit by a sign, or by faith?"
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

John 20:29
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed

1 Peter 1:8
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

it's as plain as day in scripture, you want the Holly spirit you have to obey God. Of course ain't no one going to obey unless they have faith imo so is obeying God consider work or a burden now the answer to that question may test your true faith.

Acts 5:32

And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Faith in God is obedience…

By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Romans 16:26
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith

Ephesians 2:5

That is about the Gentiles dead in their sins because they didn't do the purification works.

Jesus saved them when they were uncircumcised UNCLEAN ENEMIES.

Colossians 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

Ephesians 2:11 Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called uncircumcised by the so-called circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
God gives the gift TO HIS CHILDREN.

You have to qualify for a child first.
Romans 4:4
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
That is about the purification works.a person did.
Romans 11:6

...the PURIFICATION WORKS.
2 Timothy 1:9

PURIFICATION WORKS.

You have to stop believing and preaching disobedience.

Straw man= false accusation

Believing in (Faith in) Jesus Christ does not = disobedience

John 6:28-29

King James Version

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
