Did Paul used a bad word in verse 8 below?

Philippians 3:1Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

I do wonder if society is making too much of a big deal about the word that is used today in synonymous with Paul's use of the word "dung" in his days because Paul did say this.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Kind of makes me think dung is not really a bad word and neither is the word that we used today for dung, but apparently and somehow, it is.

Am I missing something here? Or are we to adhere to society's standard of a potty mouth, we should use dung instead? People used the word crap as if a better choice than that other word that we all frown upon, but then again, it does make me wonder why that other word is such a bad word when it means the same thing?

dung simply means manure. What's wrong with that? Paul isn't using it in a slang/curse context.

Can you explain the slang/curse context as not applying to Paul's life as a Jew in keeping the law for what he was saying it was dung in all that he had accomplished as if a boastful Jew? Thanks in advance.

Whenever any one cares to edify or correct as the Lord leads, please do.

If something bad happens or somebody was working hard and it became worthless, they sometimes use that word.

Paul was boasting of his past life as a Jew in all that he has accomplished as a Jew, but he considered it "worthless" and even as dung in light of Christ in knowing Him & the power of His resurrection..

So I still don't see Paul referring to actual manure when applying dung to his boasting of his former life as a Jew as if it was something best forgotten.... something to disdain or reject in favor of Christ.

Rev., refuse. Either excrement or what is thrown away from the table; leavings. The derivation is uncertain. According to some it is a contraction from ἐς κύνας βάλλω to throw to the dogs.

See on filth, 1 Corinthians 4:13. Notice the repetition of gain, count, loss, all things, Christ.

I think I answered my own question; not sure though...

When something is not disdain or reject in favor of Christ, then it is considered a curse or a cuss word? Granted, an unpleasant event or an undesirable result can cause someone to "cuss or curse", but this is not signifying any thing as far as being in favor of Christ.

So I think I understand Paul's usage of dung as not cussing nor cursing something or a work of his own when it is in favor of Christ & His finished work on the cross.

It is still somewhat up in the air seeing how one has to be careful not to use the dung word by itself but it is okay when comparing something in favor of Christ?

42“The noise of a carefree crowd was around her; drunkards were brought from the desert along with men from the rabble, and they put bracelets on the wrists of the woman and her sister and beautiful crowns on their heads. 43Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, ‘Now let them use her as a prostitute, for that is all she is.’ 44And they slept with her. As men sleep with a prostitute, so they slept with those lewd women, Oholah and Oholibah. 45But righteous judges will sentence them to the punishment of women who commit adultery and shed blood, because they are adulterous and blood is on their hands.
46“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Bring a mob against them and give them over to terror and plunder. 47The mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.
