Dealing with pornography?

This is kind of an embarrassing topic, but it's something i've struggled with and wanted to know if anyone has successfully battled it? Just kind of a quick background, I was molested when I was around 5 or 6 and have been looking at pornography since. It didn't bother me till I became a Christian. When I got married I believed in Christ just didn't really follow the bible and then when my wife left (for another guy) I began really delving into the bible and was baptized recently and i'm going to get married again next year to a wonderful Christian woman. I would really like to beat this but i'm not sure how. Any tips would be great.

1 Corinthians 10:13

13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Memorize this verse!!! You must memorize it, for you will need to bring it to bear instantly when temptaion arises. When the temptation arises, say the verse over and over and over and over (aloud or silent if in public), a 1000 times if need be. The desires wane and wax, you need only keep from falling prey to it for awhile. Eventually as you win more battles to resist it, you will gain cofindence in your ability to resist it, and it WILL become easier.

Hello ma brother, i saw your post last night but i could not reply not because i don't want to reply but because first i was too tired and second i know what you are talking about.
plz if you will agree with me, that is not just some attitude you can decide to stop someday... at some point you will be thinking that when you get married it will all stop. and when it you are about to watch you will be saying to your self.. this will be the last time. but believe me it will never stop.

first thing you have to do is to recognize it as a spirit, plz dont hate your self, rather hate that spirit.
second, each time the feelings is coming to your mind, you need to speak out in rebuking that spirit. if you can peak in tongue plz do. you need to be speaking to that spirit like you can see it with every hatred in you.

of-cause the very first thing you ought to do has been done which if confession.

may i give you just one prayer point.. if you will not mind..... trouble me no more because i bear the mark of God upon me, though the righteous fall 7 time, yet 7 time he shall rise. though i had falling but for the sake of God i am rising far above every sin (pornography). because whoever the Son of man set free is free indeed. i am free. in the Name of Jesus Christ.

I will keep you in my prayers too. because my bible tells me that one shall chase a thousand and two shall out tenthousand to flee. God bless you.​

Our conference of something like 1100 churches recently had a training day for all the clergy. They had an anonymous set of questions for the clergy to answer. They ask that the clergy be honest as no one would ever know who answered what. One of the questions was: How many of you have viewed pornography in the last 90 days? 50% said they had. 50% - Wow. And if you figure in that some probably were to ashamed to tell the truth the actual number is probably higher. And, this is clergy we're talking about. So, rest assured, you are not alone in your struggle.

Obviously the problem is that it's so accessible. Just as we are here talking about Jesus you can just as easily google anything else you want to.

I am no theologian, I'm just an old retired police. But, I totally agree with crossabove that this is a spirit. Some of the more right wing (for lack of a better term) Christians believe that even though we are saved we can be influenced by demonic spirits. I believe this to be true. I don't think Satan makes us do anything. I think he does what he can to steal, kill and destroy. He would like to do that to all of us. His demons whisper in our ears all kinds of lies. A man feels lonely and unloved and pornography is an easy out for a temporary, artificial substitute for the love he longs for. But, he is left even deeper in despair. It works just like a drug addiction.

Just like for an alcoholic there is no quick fix. It's a day to day, moment to moment struggle. If you fall down you get back up, knock the dust off, and keep moving forward.

I know it sounds too simple but, reading your Bible is very important. If you feel yourself heading down that path walk away. Get up and walk away.

Also, consider this. Your soon to be wife deserves all of you. And, nothing is actually hidden. In God's universe everything is seen. I think that universe is very forgiving but, God calls us to a higher holiness. There is a ton of scripture that tells us that we are God's and encourage us to work towards personal holiness and righteousness. This can cause us to feel guilty and Satan can certainly lay on the condemnation. But, Jesus gives us a spirit of freedom. At the end of the day I believe that it is a spiritual battle. Wars may be waged for many, many years. We are flesh and bone and subject to the forces of this world. Battles are won by sheer will, prayer, struggle, faith, Bible study, etc.. Hang in there. The world is going to send you mixed messages because they are blind. At the end of the day only God's word can be trusted.

Pornography is really bad for us and will hurt your walk with the Lord and your marriage. Paul teaches that we should "flee" from sexual immorality. Watching pornography is sexually immoral, even though it isn't face to face with another person. It's foul in the eyes of the Lord. It feeds your flesh to lust even more, you must repent of this and seek the power of Jesus to set you free from the bondage of this sin.

He will get you free from it, but you will need to turn to Him and trust Him to get you out of this sin. He broke the chains of a lifelong pornography addiction within me, and He can do it for you. Stop watching porn. Throw out all your porn. Delete all porn from your computer. Clear your browser of any links that go to porn sites. Get on your face before the LORD and call upon Him to remove this evil desire from your heart. Then, when the temptations come, call upon Jesus to help you overcome the temptations. He is faithful, He will do it. Continue on in this manner and there will come a day where you will wake up and the desire of this evil will be gone. That's how it happened for me. Keep seeking Him. Don't give in to temptation. Keep calling upon the name of Jesus.

Pray for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as well. This will empower you over many sins in your life and make you zealous for the Lord like never before. I pray the LORD will grant you repentance in this matter, and that you will turn from this sin and be delivered from it. In Jesus' name I pray.

How bad do you really want to stop? A person really has to WANT to stop in order to stop. i have counseled many people over the years concerning this topic, and many say they want to stop, but they really don't want to stop, because they are not willing to do what i suggest to stop looking at porn.

Again how bad do you really want to stop? What i am going to suggest you do, you would do if you really wanted to stop looking at porn. here it is:

Tell your fiance you have a problem with looking at porn and need help with it.

you have not truly confessed this sin until you confess it to people who can actually help you with it. You can confess all you want to message boards and total strangers, but we are not there to help you stop looking at porn. If you truly desire to stop, then tell your fiance that you have a problem with porn. As a Godly man, should you not tell her, does she not have a right to know who she is marrying? Tell her. That way she can help you, maybe monitor your internet activity, move the computer to the living room, or maybe even make a rule not to get on the computer unless she is home. AGAIN what are you willing to do to actually STOP looking at porn? Are you willing to get rid of the computer? throw it out of the house? Truly, if a person wants to stop looking at porn they will find a way to do so, even if it is never to have another computer again.

i will tell you the Truth, what i am about to say to you is what helped me more than anything at all to stop looking at porn, it is a simple Truth, and that Truth helped more than anything else. Here is that simple Truth: Anyone who looks at porn and does not cease from it, When Christ comes they will NOT be taken up with Him, because of a Truth, Jesus will not take Adulterers up with Him. That Truth helped more than anything else. If i continued to look at porn He would not take me with Him, He that hath an ear let them hear the Truth.
