The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. Psalm 104:22-23

Daylight savings time is the practice of setting clocks forward one hour so that daylight lasts an hour longer in the evening during summer months. This new schedule means, however, that sunrise comes an hour later than it used to, so you get an hour’s less sunlight in the morning. But overall the idea behind this annual change is to give people extra sunlight during their workday.

On this date in spring, you need to adjust your clocks forward one hour, whereas in autumn (fall), you adjust them backward one hour. People use the expressions “Spring forward” and “Fall back” to remind them of which way to set their clocks—but still manage to get mixed up much of the time.

When this change was first introduced, some Christians were convinced that it was of the devils because Daniel 7:25 says that the Antichrist will “think to change times and laws.” Humorous assumptions aside, there is still a great deal of argument as to whether daylight savings time is worth the trouble and confusion that it sometimes causes.

You may not feel like setting your clocks forward and backward, but you need to do it to be in step with the rest of society. The Bible says, “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human instruction” (1 Peter 2:13).
