These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants. 2 Samuel 21:22 NKJV
When young David faced Goliath, why did he take five smooth stones? An old quip says because Goliath had four brothers. Well, the Bible doesn’t exactly say they were all brothers, but they were all descendants of the Rephaim in Gath, one of the five largest Philistine cities.
So, who were these big brutes taken down by four of David’s mighty men?
Prayer: Lord, You want me to take You at Your Word even when it comes to Goliath and his kin. I believe.

- Ishbi-Benob, killed by Abishai brother of Joab
- Saph, killed by Sibbekai the Hushathite
- Lahmi brother of Goliath (1 Chronicles 20:5), killed by Elhanam from Bethlehem.
- Unnamed brute, killed by Jonathan, son of David’s brother Shimeah
