I have a question. If I were to create a dating site service (Christian dating of course), with webcam chats, regular chats, instant messegner chats, multiple photo per profile capabilities, private messaging, emailing, ratings, worldwide searches, and other great features how much would you pay maximum per month for this service?

I am talking about a high-end dating service, very user-friendly, colorful, bright, rich in features, fast loading (including searches), etc.

I am thinking of starting one. Just looking for ideas and a little survey so t to speak. What ideas do you have for a dating site? What would you like to see that you have not on the other dating sites?

well i for one can't afford to pay for anything extra above my normal household bills, and other dating services usually cost more than it is worth, it is very difficult to find someone to match your own personality and likes and dislikes. Unless you had a very large database full of people to choose from..

I believe Christianmingle or singleC.com has a lifetime membership for 59.00. I think I will join after my 10 day free trial membership. It sounds like a good deal.

Maybe you should pray about this. I just came across this thread, and it's prolly old, but you know me, like to give my opinion.
I think that dating service would be ok for those who do that. I'm not against it or anything, just sayin.
But yes, it should be a pure spotless place for pure spotless people to GET TO KNOW one another. You know, not any matchmaking quizzes or n e thing acause God is the only matchmaker, and He only knows our true soulmate!

This will be a fulL Christian "soulmate" dating service NOT secular, worldly dating style. It will be a worldwide penpal club as well. It will be as unique as possible, colorful vibe/atmosphere, Christian oriented 100% (can't stress it enough), nice flash animation, live chat (prayer room), video chat (moderated 24/7), full extensive profiles including video/audio intro per member, mini autobiography, photo ablums per member (moderated as well).

This by GOD's will, will be NOTHING like you've seen before, even the secular "nice" ones.

I think the word that sticks out the most in this , is , Dating . A great Christian fellowship for singles is a great idea . Go for it Chad ! The world offers nowhere for Christian singles to go or fellowship . That's why we have so many unequally yoked marriages . Just beware of the foolish married men who venture onto these sites , only to leave a woman hurt and confused . Mike

thumbs up

I think it is a great idea as having met my true love here young Christians often find it hard to get a place where they can meet like minded pure folk who they can have a relationship. Many would be willing to pay a price I believe as long as it is affordable and an optional extra to the existing free services.

I know for a fact that there is a need for this in the world as many so called dating services are sleasy, exploitive and sometimes not living up to their claims.

as Brother in Arms has said, go for it . I have found with myself and my beloved that it can be difficult to meet in a spare room in chat or talk in private as others sometimes want to talk when we only want to chat so the service would be of use.

God bless and all the best

Question: "Should a Christian use a dating service to find a spouse?"

Answer: There are obviously things about which the Bible is "silent". That does not mean that born again believers cannot find answers to questions that deal with our situations. We may use a process called "reasoning from Scripture", which simply means that we take principles found in God's Word and use them to apply to our specific questions. Since there were no "dating services" other than arranged marriages in Biblical times, we must look to the Word for principles. We do not find our modern terms in the Bible and that is an important distinction. The Bible does not operate on worldly terms or viewpoint but on God's viewpoint (2 Peter 2:20).

In our society, where morals are relaxed and people live together and cohabit before marriage that makes it difficult to "shut the door after the horse is out". The world has cheapened the relationship between men and women and relegated it to the status of a sport. What is acceptable in the world is not acceptable to God. Sexual immorality and fornication are one in the same and the Bible is very clear that it is sinful behavior. "18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). "4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). The principles presented here apply to all but let us remember that these Scriptures are written to believers for instruction. The word "judge" has the idea to judicially distinguish or to subject to censure. Therefore, to the born again believer it does not speak of salvation but of the judgment of works done in the flesh. Choices have consequences.

So then, should born again believers use a dating service? We can safely say that the answer, from a Biblical standpoint, would be no. Why, because it behooves believers not to use the world's methods. The best screening that a believer could make to determine one to date is whether or not that person is of the same spiritual mind; that is if they are born again of the Spirit of Christ. "3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed" (Amos 3:3)?

The pure relationship between a husband and wife is modeled after the relationship of Christ and the "church", which is His body here on earth (Ephesians 5:22-33). That relationship is the closest one ordained of God outside of our spiritual union with Christ and therefore it should be treated with the reverence and gravity that it rightly deserves and not used lightly or entered into on the basis of the fact of being matched by a worldly dating service. Therefore, when born again believers are seeking a mate that is "well pleasing" to God we should keep ourselves pure in mind and body, pray for God's will, wait upon the LORD and don't "look for love in all the wrong places"!

There is a difference between "wordly" dating services and Christian dating services. The difference is obviously clear of course. I know Christian couples who met on online dating services, plus read the testimonials from many others on good notable ones including Christian Cafe and Christian Mingle to name some.

The Scripture you quoted is not direct at Christian dating sites whatsoever as far as I'm concerned. For example you quoted Hebrews 13:4 and Corinthians 6:18. What do these two have to do with two godly people - a man and a woman meeting online on a Christian dating site? Are they immoral adulterers?

I may possibly be misunderstanding your overall view, if so I apologize. If not, please explain how a Christian dating site would be wrong and un-godly.

Just a quick note for any baby Christans, "worldy" means the sinful nature of the world (world = people of the world).

Please be very careful. I don't have peace about online dating because of the liability issues.

My only liability is with GOD. GOD protects His children and I am to be/is being righteous before GOD as he commanded.

Deuteronomy 3:22 Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.

Psalms 22:4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalms 34:6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Psalms 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

Psalms 34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalms 50:14 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

I do see your point. I've been thinking about this for awhile and am iffy about it, but at the same time I do see how it could work with those who chose to take this path. Here's a post I agree with and have decided to post it up. It basically sums up my thoughts about this.

Josh writes,
"I don't think there's anything wrong with taking initiative and being purposeful about meeting and developing friendships with godly Christian women. Some people have the opportunity to meet and get to know other Christians in their local church, while others find it difficult to find ways to meet and interact with other singles. I don't believe that taking specific steps to meet people (like using a Christian service..) means you're "getting in God's way." My encouragement...is to make sure you're not making marriage or finding a partner a substitute "god" in your life. Remind yourself that only God can provide the soul-satisfaction and fulfillment you desire. Also remember that while that ultimately only God can bring you a godly wife. Make sure you're not hoping in a service or anything else to bring that about.

My caution to you is to recognize some of the limitations to a service like this. It's going to be tempting to try and rush the relationship. Take your time and build a friendship. Meeting people in a context where people are "on the prowl" for a spouse isn't the best environment for getting to know a person's true character. This is not to say you can't meet your wife through this service, just be careful.

Finally, make sure you make a priority of godly character. Having compatible "personalities" doesn't assure a good marriage. Look for a woman who fears the Lord!"

Blessings in Christ and I'll be praying for you with all this!
Christopher... yes, the "topher" comes from Christopher! lol

I should have read your text more carefully. You did not ask for my opinion, you are "just looking for ideas." SORRY!

I have a question. How will you monitor the site to keep out the bad people?

I have a Christian friend who has used a online dating service. She often asked me for advice before replying to men, and would give me specific information about dinner plans, etc., to ensure her safety.

I know from the experience noted above that it can be difficult to find honest people. She did not disclose that she was a M.D., and they often did not disclose that they were currently in a relationship or married! Full disclosure is very important.

I would have a visually clear "report abuse" icon, logged chats, moderated pictures/video clips, sound clips. Also, moderated/monitored profiles as well.

Chad,
Have you thought about adding a chat room for singles, or maybe more than one room, based on age groups for singles?
I am a 55 y/o widow, and am not looking to date a 20 y/o, but chatting with someone that age to discuss issues could also be good.
Or even maybe a room or forum for advice from married or formerly married folks to the singles?
Kate
