Daily Bread: Husbands love your wives

Ephesians 5:25- Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her.

When myy wife fell ill, I had the daunting task of taking care of the kids. I cooked, washed dishes, made special trips to the store for her and bathed the kids. When i saw all that I had done, I thought to myself, I deserve extra credit and reciprocal service when she gets better. Before I gave myself too many pats on the back, however, the Holy Spirit reminded me that I was doing my privilege and duty as a christian husband.
In Paul's time, many believed the husband's needs dominated the household and the wife existed to fulfil his needs and serve him. The christian view is quite different, however. Women are seen as persons of equal worth.The wife was transformed from an accessory to a person of intrinsic value, becoming the focus of her husband's concern. Instead of demanding that she live for him, he was to serve her!
As husbands pursue christianlikeness, they have the privilege and duty to sacrifice, nurture and care for their wives.-Marvin Williams

Thank you for that great post. We need such word to be taught for it is an issue that has been ignored and the devil takes advantage in this by breaking marriages, no wonder we've got high divorce rates, we need to have knowledge pertaining this otherwise we will perish.

The bible teaches that Eve was created as a 'Helper' that means someone added to a man to assist not to be left everything for her. She's a helper....i pray the same revelation God ministered unto you be imparted to men's heart esp. to husbands......:thumbs_up

Cant help read your thread again and again, it just shows how humble and loving you are towards your family and that is great examples for others to follow.....this makes sense to me for i have friends who have this kind of problem but their husbands wont go to that extend.

" May the good Lord bless and increase you and your family the more....

It is the duty of the husband to love his wife, and not be bitter against her.........

It is the duty of the husband.........to love his wife.

Sadly today such biblical teaching is out of fashion....and we pay the price.....in society

I must agree with you stephen, such teaching they've been viewed as old fashion, and that's where the devil targets......Let's go to our knees and interceed on behalf of our loved ones and ask God to turn the situation for He's well able. The devil goes round day and night seeking whom he can destroy, having that in mind its high time we use the spiritual weapon God has invested in us.

Let it be our prayer that God may inspire both husbands and wives to see the truth on these scriptures, that the eyes of their understanding may be opened in JESUS name. ray:
