Concerned about my daughter

Member
I am requesting advice on talking to my daughter about Scripture, Christ, ect.

My daughter is a 22yr. old mother. She was raised in church, but turned away through her young adult years. Ironically, she is the one who directed us to the church we go to now, (for three years). I know we are to lead by example, & I not only attend church, but my wife & I are very involved in extra activities as well. My daughter may attend church every blue moon. When I approach her in any way about Scrpiture, Jesus, etc. she gets very defensive about it. It really hurts my spirit when I see her rebell, or plain just sin, because I know she knows better.

Any advice from anyone?

Upon reading your concerns the only thing I can come up with is Trust God. Sounds so simple doesn't it? I wish I had more answers. God knew us before we were born so this rebellion, though it hurts, is something God expected. The tough part is your role. How do you not say anything when you know she is struggling? In the same way God handles us when we are lost and confused, He is here for us to pick up the pieces and put us together again. Continue to love her and support her like God does with us. Continue to see Him in prayer for He has the answers.

Thank you to both of you. You know, I really love how God's children come together to assist one another with the love & care only our Lord can instill in our hearts, Amen? I appriciate the fact that you both promote unconditional (God's) love. I was raised by a VERY conditional dad & I do not want to be that way. My wife & I have bought her a Bible with words of love & encouragement, but for right now it's a dust collector (if you know what I mean). We also are in constant prayer about her. If I'm not mistaken, isn't there Scripture about our children being covered by our prayers? If you guys don't mind, please lift this situation & her (Trisha) up to the Father, TY.

i shall remember you and your family in my prayers brother. could it be that she is in a transitional period in her life right now? are things or have things happened to throw her out of a comfort zone? it could be she feels a little out of control of her life and feels threatened and scared to share it with anyone (even God). whatever the situation, the Lord's Will shall be done in this matter. His Will is that she return stronger in faith and ready to help and bless others. i feel that with parents like you, this prodigal daughter will be just fine.

you have my heart,thoughts,and prayers,

hey the idea that you are worried about your daughter should already have made you feel to take this up with god, before it is too late. as you know, god can do anything in his vast miracles, and the only way he can show this is if you pray, trust in him, for only alone in him are all things done. remember that god always has a plan, and it may not be the easiest, but have faith, because by faith, all things are done!

I am going through a similar issue with my 16 year old, and I am learning to put her back into God's hands. Where she originaly resided before HE entrusted her to me. She has a destined path that she has to walk down to find her place in God, just like we did. I can't prevent it it. The hardest thing I am learning is to trust God. I pray that the blood of Christ covers her and protects her and trust that God will lead and guide her in all truth no matter how bad it may seem to me. Trust God.

Calvinearl all I can advise you is to trust in the lord cause he can do it!have faith that youre daugter will listen when it's in god's time! We can't do anything without him and i have to tell you that sometimes our plans aren't god's plans. Just keep faith for her salvation and pray about it prayer is the best thing you can do for her and god is faithfull and he will hear your prayer's and help.
I will remember you in my prayer's to and you will see she will be willing t listen!
Have faith, youre sister in Christ Jesuschick!

Thank you guys, I can not express the gratitude I have for each one of you, your encouragement, concern, and most of all YOUR PRAYERS. My daughter is, in fact, in a transional period in her life right now. My wife & I are in continuous prayer about this, and we know it is in God's hands. In reading the replies, I can not help remembering my life before I found Christ, my own mother must have worn out God's ears in prayer for me as well. I am so grateful God has placed people like yourselves in my path at this time to shake me up & bring me back to the fundamentals, faith & trust in God. Thank you all once again,

My advise is to go to lord in prayer. One of my family members hasnt been going to church and has been getting away from the lord. Right now we ask him if he is going with us to church. He usually goes sunday and sometimes more. Little by little he is coming back. All I can say is to go easy and dont try to push. If you push it will just make her draw back even more. Just love here and let her see the lord in you. Let the lord shine through you and be a good example. I know it is hard to see your daughter away from the lord but this may take some time to get her back in the right place with the lord. I hope everything works out for you.

I really appriciate everyone's input on this issue. I am continueing to pray for this situation to come around, but I realize it's in His hands & in His time. If only I had the patience our Father has, Amen? May the Lord bless you all abundantly, including the ones that are just reading these posts.

Just trust in the Lord. Since you raised her in the Lord, I believe she will come back to the lord. Just continue to pray for her. My family and I will have your daughter and your family in our prayers. Just keep praying for her and trust in the Lord.

reborn2001,
I really appriciate your prayers & support. As we (wife & I) continue to pray for her. I know she will return to the Father, & when she does, she'll be stronger than ever, Amen? Father God, I ask that you would bless each indivisual that has given me words of encouragement, prayers & support, through this message board. I ask that You would place your loving arms of protection around each and every one of them. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Thank you all,
Michael

Al, Chad & Jesuslovesu,

Thank you all for your wonderful words & support.
Al, your message derfinately is not silly. In fact, it does hit home with me as well, T/Y.
You know guys, since my daughter is getting more experience of motherhood, she is beginning to draw closer to mommy & daddy, praise God! Not only seeking our advice on parenting, but she is beginning to look ahead & ask more questions about the events around the world as well. I tell you, when God answers prayers, He does it in a huge, awesome way, Amen?

Thanks to all brothers & sister,
In His grace & mercy,
Calvinearl
