Godliness guards the path of the blameless, but the evil are misled by sin. Proverbs 13:6 NLT

A good look at before and after new-life living is found in Proverbs 13. Sin takes you on the Indulgence Express where you are encouraged to give in to everything you’ve ever wanted to experience with no regard for consequences. Then, when you’re used up, washed up, and fed up, sin opens the Indulgence Express doors and rolls you into the ditch. As the express pulls away, you can hear the driver’s raspy voice say: “I’ll be back to see if you want another ride. Don’t bother asking God for help. You’re too pathetic to rescue.”

It’s easy to believe the lie, isn’t it? You know you’ve made wrong choices, and those choices have kept you from asking God for help. Sin encourages more sin and has no intention of offering you a way out.

Transformation by God, however, takes you to a place that offers freedom from sin’s grip and freedom to live with the best choices. It’s ironic how many can’t break from the abusing accuser, when freedom is the immediate gift of trusting God.

Prayer: Dear God, accepting Your great gift is easy, but it can be one of the most difficult choices anyone can make. The change can be dramatic and not everyone will be happy with the decision. Thanks for giving me new eyes to see the beauty of Your gift.
