Cold sunny morning here in East Yorkshire and church bells ringing from the old Anglican aka Church of England church that has bits built by Saxons from before 1100 AD.
The Anglicans are not quite as pagan as Catholics but there is a curtained icon of someone for people to pray to and light candles to! That's why I don't attend their services.
I picked up their newsletter white at coffee morning yesterday and read that there will be a vacancy for a vicar as the Assistant Curate is moving on. The previous vicar left a few months ago.
I'm not sure about the heirarchy of Anglicans as there are deacons, curates, vicars, archbishops...
The CofE magazine has pages of vacancies for vicars, curates etc.
Payrate is less than a supermarket shelf stacker but is doubled by being given a house, travel expenses, etc.
Job description: 'There are many key skills an effective vicar has which is unique to their vocation. A good understanding of theology and Christian doctrine, coupled with a strong personal faith in biblical teaching and a genuine desire to spread these teachings are obviously extremely important for a vicar.'
A few years ago a friend thinking of becoming a deacon invited me along to an informal meeting about her hope at the regional CofE training centre. While there I asked six of the trainers if they were descended from Adam and Eve or evolved from monkeys. Guess which all replied?

No wonder the UK churches are dying and the Muslim mosques are springing up everywhere?
