They gave our Master a crown of thorns – Why do we hope for a crown of roses? – Martin Luther.

Mark 8: 38
" For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this aduiterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.'

My Thought: I've seen people at sporting advents, parties and wedding receptions, act like total jerks and make complete fools of themselves, and at one time I was part of it, but when it comes to praising the Lord they are to embarresed to get involved, sometimes they look around and wait for others to get involved, however sometimes the Lord is waiting on you to start because he wants to use you to be the one to get others involved.

James 1:12

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

My Thought
I know many temptations can be very hard to beat, but if you ask the Lord to help you it can be done, you may have to do it alittle at a time but if you keep working on them you can over come them.

Below is a quote from one of the greatest men I know of George Washington, taken from his prayer:
“O Most Glorious God, in Jesus Christ, my merciful and loving Father; I acknowledge and confess my guilt in the weak and imperfect performance of the duties of this day. I have called on Thee for pardon and forgiveness of my sins, but so coldly and carelessly that my prayers are become my sin, and they stand in need of pardon.”
“ I have sinned against heaven and before Thee in thought, word, and deed. I have contemned Thy majesty and holy laws. I have likewise sinned by omitting what I ought to have done and committing what I ought not. I have rebelled against the light, despising Thy mercies and judgment, and broken my vows and promise. I have neglected the better things. My iniquities are multiplied and my sins are very great. I confess them, O Lord, with shame and sorrow, detestation and loathing and desire to be vile in my own eyes as I have rendered myself vile in Thine. I humbly beseech Thee to be merciful to me in the free pardon of my sins for the sake of Thy dear Son and only Savior Jesus Christ who came to call not the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Thou gavest Thy Son to die for me.”

"Make me to know what is acceptable in Thy sight, and therein to delight, open the eyes of my understanding, and help me thoroughly to examine myself concerning my knowledge, faith, and repentance, increase my faith, and direct me to the true object, Jesus Christ the Way, the Truth, and the Life, ..."
[ George Washington from a 24 page authentic handwritten manuscript book dated April 21-23, 1752]

To know that nothing hurts the godly, is a matter of comfort; but to be assured that all things which fall out shall co-operate for their good, that their crosses shall be turned into blessings, that showers of affliction water the withering root of their grace and make it flourish more; this may fill their hearts with joy till they run over.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a mind. NKJ Version

This is a good scripture to cling to in these times.

If you bruise the branch you bruise the Vine.
Selah

Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

I think that of all the diseases in the world, the disease that all humankind suffers from, the disease that is most devastating to us is not AIDS, it's not gluttony, it's not cancer, it's not any of those things. It is the disease that comes about because we live in ignorance of the wealth of love that God has for us.

Rich Mullins

James 5: 8,9

8. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9. Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned, Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

My Thought: It is a shame how some so called Christians talk and treat one another.

The measure of a Christian is not in the height of his grasp but in the depth of his love. - Clarence Jordan

While our strongest faith is unable to save us, the weakest faith in Christ grasps a mighty Savior in whom we may rest our souls.

Richard D. Phillips

I am sure that never was a people, who had more reason to acknowledge a Divine interposition in their affairs, than those of the United States; and I should be pained to believe that they have forgotten that agency, which was so often manifested during our Revolution, or that they failed to consider the omnipotence of that God who is alone able to protect them.
George Washington

We turn to God for help when our foundations are shaking only to learn that it is God shaking them.
Charles West
