[Luke 24:13 KJV] "And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem [about] threescore furlongs."
[Luke 24:15 KJV] "And it came to pass, that, while they communed [together] and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them."
[Luke 24:25 KJV] "Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:"
[Luke 24:26 KJV] "Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?"
[Luke 24:27 KJV] "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." *********** The two disciples were not the apostles. One of them was named Cleopas. These two were part of the group that went to the tomb. They went to the apostles assembled in Jerusalem and gave them a report of seeing the empty tomb. *************** [Luke 24:33 KJV] "And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,"
[Luke 24:45 KJV] "Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,"
[Luke 24:46 KJV] "And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:" ********** Here Jesus opened the apostles understanding of the scriptures to understand what the prophets conveyed about his death and resurrection. The apostles didn't understand his death and resurrection before this time. This proves the apostles couldn't have preached his death and resurrection for salvation during Christ's earthly ministry.
