Carry A Tune - January 01, 2007

I Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face continually.

I have a friend who say's," I couldn't even carry a tune in a basket!" Well, musical ability is not my forte', either, but instead of carrying a tune, I think I will try to be-in tune. In tune with God, that is , as this year 2007 begins.

Some people are just born planners. They plan meals, parties, vacations, and they have their schedules and "to do" lists forever with them. I happen to be one of those people, so flexibility in a schedule is difficult for me.

Often times I plan my schedule without praying about it. I just get organized- such as attending a Bible Study, preparing food for the elderly, working at the shelter, etc etc., and think that is what God would have me do. It is not very often that I pray before I make these decisions; I just ask Him to bless the ones I make!

I believe it would make a difference if I went to the Lord first, asking Him. Asking Him for some long range plans, perhaps; some visions He would give me, and some everyday opportunities in my life. Recently a friend told me her husband prayed each day that he would be a blessing to someone. I have adopted that prayer, knowing it to be the will of God. How satisfying it is to know God has used you each day to bless someone else!

Relaxing in the arms of God and allowing Him to make the plans is a good place for me to reside. He will let me know what and where to do His will, but only when I turn over the reins of control to Him. If you have a similar situation, won't you join me in a New Year's resolution? One which gives God control of our planning.
